Natasha Galkina (born December 16, 1985 in Rostov, Russia), is a Russian-American fashion model. She was a contestant on cycle 8 of ANTM in 2007, where she was the runner-up.

Early Life[]

In the finale episode, Natasha revealed to Tyra that her mother did not have enough money to send her to a local university, and so she ended up living in Moscow, under very poor living conditions at times. Natasha was a college student before the show.[1]

Cycle 8[]

In auditions, Natasha introduced herself as being from Dallas, Texas.[1] She said that she is married to an American man, Stuart Hagler, who brought her over to the United States, and it was revealed in episode seven that they have a daughter, Angelina. There was controversy concerning the marriage among the other contestants because Natasha never wore a wedding band, nor did she seem to have pictures of her husband and daughter. Some speculated that she was a mail-order bride. She has subsequently denied the claim, having said in an interview, "We met like the other people, like the other people meet each other. It was natural, we dated for a little bit less than a year, and I got married when I was almost 20 and after the year from the date of our marriage, and I got the beautiful baby and I was very, very happy with him."[2]

Natasha's journey started off roughly. Mr. Jay said that her High School Clichés photoshoot in the second episode was among the hardest to direct in Top Model history, besides Ann Markley from cycle 3. However, she was saved over Samantha.

As the competition progressed, the judges were amazed by Natasha's progress. Tyra referred to her as the most improved contestant in the opening narration of the finale. However, she was criticized for always posing with her face upside down from the nude candy shoot up to the famous Top Model moments shoot. Overall she received two first call-outs, three CoverGirl of the Week titles and won one challenge.

In episode ten, she was late with Brittany for the go-sees challenge in Australia, and during Brittany's meltdown, Natasha said "I just want to tell you that some people have war in their countries." This quote is considered one of the most famous lines in Top Model history by the fanbase.

In episode eleven, she was sick at the aboriginal dancing shoot, causing her to have her worst shot to date. Later, at panel, Tyra asked the final four who has the least and most potential. Jaslene, Renee and Dionne all said Natasha. She was in the bottom two with Dionne, but was saved because her body of work was stronger than Dionne's, and Tyra said the other girls might be jealous.

During the final runway show, her skirt accidentally fell down, but she was applauded by the judges for committing to character, and making the wardrobe malfunction appear as though it were intentional. Despite this, Jaslene was the eventual winner of the competition.

Cycle 17[]

Natasha was on the original shortlist for All-Stars. She had to decline the offer because there was no one to watch her daughter while she was away.

Post-Show[]

Natasha was voted as one of the most memorable contestants by AOL Entertainment.[3]

On the April 18, 2007 episode of Top Model, Tyra announced that Natasha will serve as a special correspondent on "The Tyra Banks Show", having impressed the judges in that week's interviewing challenge. Natasha said that she was working on another television program, although she could not give specifics at the time.[4]

Natasha has continued to pursue modeling. She changed her name to Natalie Gal, and was signed with the MUSE Models New York from July 2007 to September 2007, and later represented by MGMT First[5] and Beatrice Model agency. Natasha is also signed with Ace Model Management in Greece.

She has graced the covers of Modern Luxury Houston and DC, and has appeared in a fashion spread for the May 21, 2007 issue of US Weekly, modeling looks of the summer with Top Model competitors Renee, Jaslene and Dionne. She modeled in Athens, Greece and Milan, Italy, having shot fashion editorials for Cosmopolitan, Lucky, Elle, GQ Russia and Madame Figaro.[6]

Natasha is often criticized for the abuse of filters on her Instagram photos.

In 2022, Natasha started an MBA at Harvard.
